Meet Maggie, Toby & Dusty!

Karen reached out to me recently knowing that she absolutely must have a pet session.  She said she’d been contemplating it for a while and then just that week, found out that her beloved Maggie was diagnosed with cancer so it was definitely time.

We met at the studio and there I met all three of her loves — all three Beagles and all three with very individual personalities!  We had Maggie who just loved on her mom a lot, Toby who inspected the space and could have sworn he kept throwing me dirty looks :) and Dusty who was the jumper, the ball catcher and the one who made everyone else exhausted by just watching his energy!

We had a lot of fun and from what I understand, everyone was super exhausted afterwards, including their mom!  Karen, enjoy these sneaks!  I have a few more that will be on another post coming up tomorrow so come back and visit!
Toby, checking himself out…he is a handsome boy!

Ok, big eyes, big ears, big howl and BIG cuteness!! That was Miss Rosie in the studio this past weekend!  She was adorable and her mom and I had so much fun during the session with her!  She loves carrying sticks 10 times her size and drops to the floor when mom says ‘bang-bang’ and she is a total lover!  Here are some Sneaks from our oh-so-fun session – enjoy!

A Puparazzi shoot to benefit Xena, The Warrior Puppy!!

As you all know, the outtakes are some of my faves and yet again, I have some fun ones to share!  Friends of DeKalb Animals have a little girl who was rescued under terrible circumstances and over time, she is recovering beautifully and her spirit just soars and she is loving life as she should!  Xena has her own Facebook page and a huge amount of followers!  You can check it out HERE if you want to read her story. Expenses for Miss Xena have been tremendous though, and so the gals at FODA asked if I would do “Photos with Xena” and so I did.  All proceeds (minus minor admin costs) went straight to FODA that day and a big thank you to all the folks that came out, donated towards a photo session and gave a lot of hugs and kisses to Miss Xena – I know it is so very appreciated!

Here is a slideshow of the outtakes from that day and if you were one of those that had a photo taken, I will be reaching out to you soon and mailing out your print later this week!  Thank you again!

Because I laugh almost the entire time I edit these, I wanted to share the laughter with all of you! These babies are goofy, silly, excited and sometimes a little ticked off and still, they are just the cutest, always!!

Sneaks are coming up tomorrow but in the mean time, enjoy the Outtakes – they are almost more fun than the “official” ones!

1 Great Dane + 3 kids = A crazy, fun Puparazzi Session!

What happens when you put a 3 kids under the age of 10 and one beautifully, enormous Great Dane by the name of Dempsey in one studio space!?  A crazy, good, fun session, and a bit of chaos, of course! :)

I had such a blast with these four and the photos, although, not perfect, for me are imperfectly perfect because it just speaks to the day and the energy that these four brought to the session!  Dempsey is now 1 years old (I photographed him when he was a puppy) and my, he has grown!  His human babies were way too sweet and I am so lucky to have been able to capture these special moments with all of them!

Enjoy the Sneaks!

This photo session was a birthday gift from my current clients to their parents, Dot & Jim.  They told me that Dot & Jim loved this dog so much and she was like their baby so a unique gift such as a photo shoot was an absolute must!

Sophie was adopted by Dot & Jim a few years ago from a rescue that had picked her up on the streets of Atlanta.  Now, she has traveled to Alaska, goes camping every so often or is busy chasing squirrels and talking to neighborhoods dogs in her beautiful back yard!  She is a very lucky girl to have Dot & Jim love her so and I think she knows it!  I had a great time photographing Sophie — she was a true character!  Dot & Jim, thank you for having me out and I hope you enjoy these Sneaks from our session!

“It’s an honor to love something so much that your heart breaks when it moves to another plane.  It’s an honor to be loved back, too.
There’s joy to be found – even in your sadness.”
~ Christine Kane

I am one of those that finds it extremely cathartic to write at time of laughter and also at times of sadness.  There is something about it for me that works and so although some may find it strange that less than 2 hours after we put our beautiful Mandi down to rest, I am here writing a note to her, about her – it is just what I do.

Mandi was about to be 17 years old and lived an amazing life and so after the many tears shed, I started to think about some of the laughter because there was a lot of it.  Mandi came to us at around 3 months old – we adopted her because she was just a big ball of black fluff with the sweetest eyes ever.  She would play dress up with Shivani (Red Riding Hood was her favorite costume!), Neil would just hug onto her while he watched TV and this is where Mandi was in her “zone”!  Loved cuddles – had to be touched or against me when we walked.  Terrified of the dark, she’d run right into me late at night whimpering and as soon as she touched me, she’d be fine!  We took her to the lake the first few weeks we had her, and honestly, I don’t think I saw such a black dog turn blue – yes, she was car sick and promptly threw up within minutes of being in the car.  AND to top it all off, being a lab mix, we thought she’d love the water…well, Mandi, looked at the lake, touched the water with her paw and whimpered at her own reflection and ran away as far from the water as possible.  Needless to say, she never became a swimmer. :)

I realized that this little one never needed to be trained to stay with us – she always wanted to stay – wouldn’t run away if she had the chance!  Once, she jumped the fence when we were away and we came home to find her wagging her tail at the front door like “Where the HELL have you people been?  You know I can’t stand being away from you!?”  Her timidity and gentleness and willingness to please just made her part of our surroundings and I realize now how spoiled we were to have such an amazing dog in our lives.

She got the nickname Mandingo Warrior from my husband only because she was the absolute opposite of that – the gentlest, sweetest, most loving dog ever – not a bit of warrior blood in this one!  Everyone in this family had nicknames so it was only fitting that she got that name.  Although, the only time she really ever got terribly warrior-like was one summer when Shivani had friends in the back yard and Mandi decided she needed to “herd” them in a circle so she ran and ran around them, barking and lo-and-behold, within minutes, all the girls were bundled up together (probably terrified of a crazy dog trying to herd them up) but well, Mandi did it, she herded them and she was proud!

And for those of you who may not know, it was Mandi’s photo from a few years ago that kinda’ started Puparazzi Portraits!  Mandi has always hated getting her picture taken – most of what I have her turning her head or not looking at the camera…a photographer for a mom, well she just didn’t care!  BUT, a few years back, I was doing Neil’s senior session and out of the blue, Mandi comes and just climbs up into my burgundy chair and just hangs out.  She looked at me ONE time (as if to say, this is your chance, take it NOW!!) and I snapped a shot of her that is my favorite of all time! From that photo, came an inquiry from someone who wanted similar and then another, and well, ya’all know the rest of the story and so here I am!  Thank you, Mandi…it’s as if you knew what your mom needed before I did!

Mandingo, we loved you so much and as hard as it was for us to make this decision to give you peace today, know now that you were loved, cherished and we were so blessed to have you in our lives for as long as we did.  We love you and will miss you ever day.  xoxo

Our beautiful girl just two weeks ago…

The weekend we got Bella – Mandi loved her from the moment we got her!  I think Daddy had treats in his hand at this moment as well!

Holiday Madness — Mandi loved every second of it just ’cause she could be with us!

Neil’s Senior session where Mandi just decided that all of a sudden she was ok with getting her picture taken, too!

My favorite Boston Terrier Rescue, ABTR participated in a recent Paws in the Park event!  I helped in the fundraising efforts and we held a raffle at our tent with some amazing prizes from local restaurants and businesses – all of which were so generous and to whom we can’t thank enough!  For our first big event in Atlanta, we raised over $1000.00 between raffle ticket sales and private donations!

To also raise funds, I did a “Snapshot Session” for folks who wanted to get a quick, fun photo of their fur baby!  I wanted to share with everyone these little babies that were up for being a model that day and also to say ‘thank you’ to their people for donating to ABTR!  You will be getting your snapshot print in the mail later this week!
